Rules for the submission of abstracts

1.The closing date for the submission of abstracts is 8 July 2008.

2. Abstracts shall be submitted in English.

3. Original research works and experiences as well as research projects that have not been previously published will be accepted. Research communications correspond to the results of research works and will be presented in a structured summary. Experience communications may include organisational, academic, healthcare delivery, interaction with other levels, IT, etc. novel experiences, which due to their characteristics and/or outcomes, may be of interest to the congress attendees. Other communications depicting approved and/or financed research projects will also be accepted.

4. Only those communications submitted via the Forum web site will be accepted.

5.The abstract/summary of the works will have to follow a structured format.
a) Research communications will include the following sections: objectives, material and methods (type of study, study scope, subjects, measurements and interventions), results and conclusion.
b) Experience communications will include: objectives of the experience, description of such experience and conclusions.
c) Research projects will include: objectives, material and methods (study scope, type of study, subjects, inclusion and exclusion criteria, measurements and interventions, statistical analysis and limitationss), applicability and ethical and legal aspects.

6. The abstract or summary will not exceed 250 words.

7. No charts, figures or tables will be admitted in the abstracts.

8. Abstracts will be presented either as oral communications or posters. The Scientific Committee will have the right to change the final presentation format for organisational purposes, if so required.

9. The procedence of the study will not be shown in the title or in the text of the abstract. No references should be made in the text that might enable localisation of the origin of the study.

10. In the event the study received external funding, reference should be made as to the source of such funding.

11. The Scientific Secretariat of the Congress will acknowledge receipt (via the Internet) of all communications sent and will provide a communication number that will be required for subsequent consultations).

12. As of September 2008, the Forum web site will provide a section indicating the acceptance or non acceptane of all submitted presentations, as well as the presentation rules for those communications that have been accepted.
